Born to a small town in upstate New York, Johanna’s first taste of art school began on arrival in Los Angeles. There she attended Otis College of Art and Design for two years. She continued to work as a graphic artist and eventually moved to the San Francisco Bay area. Johanna completed her BFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. Over the course of her thirty years plus of art making, her work has evolved in many directions. Johanna works in the style of high realism, evocative of the painting masters of the Dutch Baroque. Johanna’s most recent artistic foray has taken her into wearable art and Dia de los Muertos imagery. “I’m really having a great time with this. How often do you really get to look death in the face and laugh!”
